2016 Science Contest Winners


          The DBC Educational Foundation is proud to announce the three Science Award Winners for calendar year 2016.  

The first place award was won by Mariah Daniels, student at the John F. McCloskey Elementary School in Philadelphia, for her research regarding crayon based lipstick formulations.  

The second place award went to Tymair Moore, student at McCloskey Elementary School, for his study on how the type of water affects plant growth.   

Shayna Jones, of McCloskey Elementary School, earned the third place award for her research regarding the spin properties of hard boiled eggs versus raw eggs.

The Science Award was the output of a collaboration with Mr. Steve Cohen, Science teacher at McCloskey Elementary School.  Mr. Cohen administers the yearly contest and by doing so teaches his students the fundamentals of scientific research.
